|What's the difference between Ales & Lagers?
|It's all about the yeast. Ale yeast consumes sugar at warmer temperatures beginning at the top of the vessel and in rapid fashion. Lager, the opposite, colder temps at a slower pace and works it's way from the bottom up.
|Are Lagers darker and heavier than Ales?
|Lagers can range from light to dark, from high in alcohol to low and from bitter to sweet while Ales can run the same spectrum.
|How long from the time you make it for it to be ready to drink?
|Ales can be ready to drink in as little as 2 weeks time, whereas Lagers take 4 - 6 weeks or longer.
|What does IBU & ABV stand for?
|IBU stands for International Bitterness Units, a guide which measures the bitterness from hops in a beer on a scale of 0 to 100... the higher the number, the more bitter the beer. ABV means Alcohol By Volume, which simply lets you know what percentage of your beer is alcohol.
